Dating Indonesian Girls

Apr 4th, 2006, in Society, by

Dating Indonesian women may not be for everyone.

Indonesian women, particularly on the island of Java, are exceptionally beautiful. They tend towards the very feminine side, with lovely skin, are not too tall, and have knock-out smiles. There’s plenty of plus on that side of things.

If wer’e to be honest we have to recognise that many men are interested in a woman who will take care of him, do the housework without complaint, and take care of other matters similarly without much bother. Your average Indonesian girl often fits the bill in this respect, certainly more than your average western woman, the less said about them the better.

On the other hand going out with Indonesian women in a romantic way can have many mysterious pitfalls.

Some women here are clearly only interested in money. Some men are unbothered by this. Others of the female variety, can, once we get to know them very well, come across as practically insane, hysterically emotional, scheming, over-possessive, inclined to, usually fake, attempts at self-harm in order to get their way. As I said, not for the faint-hearted.

There are a few Indonesia dating websites although the area is not nearly as developed as that in nearby Phillipines or Thailand. To begin your online journey on the Indonesian dating scene our very own “Meet” section has many a lady eager for company.

    @ Swagman and Farah

You guys crack me up. Nice forum stuff, I like it!

Come on… if i want to shop, ill prefer by my self than dragging a guy who always complain because we had to compare price of 1 stuff to 3-4 different stores, not mention the whole outlook, with bags shoes, clothes (e.g honey could you just get that stuff and finish the shopping, i had games to watch!), i can’t imagine, really, shopping with guys !! (eeeewww).

OMG, talk about ‘one world’. I am always in trouble for not wanting to go shopping! Even last week, my wife said “You never want to go shopping with me” Well, she is not exactly correct in fact. As Swagman rightly points out, there is plenty to keep us guys amused when we go out *wink wink* haha. But really, window shopping is just not my thing. If I want something, I go and buy it! I cannot be bothered spending all day visiting 73 shops to buy a pair of socks (example) hehe.

    @ Patung

Yes we have major issues here now with violence from people for no apparent reason. You may know that India has now officially issued an advisory warning to Indian students travelling to Australia after a young guy was stabbed and murdered for no reason in Melbourne a few days ago. He was not even robbed or harmed in any other way. Just stabbed in cold blood. So yeah, I had a great childhood as well – we had a permanent holiday tent at Budgewoi (you may know that place) near Gosford, right on the water’s edge and had a wonderful time as a kid. Apart from one bully when I was about 10, that was it, never any problems. But now, OMG! You have to be very careful.

    @ Riniss

Thankyou for your kind words and I understand what you are saying. Yes of course I know that there are issues in Indonesia but I think the underlying culture of respect is much better than in Australia at the moment.

This will, as you pointed out, be eroded by the ‘Westernisation’ of the country as the overall wealth of individuals improves and they become less reliant on each other and the family units that exist at the moment. It is an unfortunate trait of the human psychi.

Oh and while I think about it, where is our learned friend Achmaad? I could sure use his guidance and cultural expertise right now! 🙂

    @ swagman

    LOL @ Farah

You certainlly have no sense of humour … all too serious [yawn]

Ohh i see, its a joke ! is it??? i am not even laughing, your joke is kind of bad.

    @ riniss

Swagman could be true if he said bring indo girl to shoping centre n buy pair of shoes n stuffs as part of date.maybe that is swagman experience who met that kind of indo gal

Yepp thats what i thought. I just dont feel right when he generalize all indonesian girls, because i wont ask my bule boyfriend those stuff, on the contrary if he did so, i will think he try to buy my love.

And me,when i had bule bf i never been overdemanding or greedy, asking fancy stuffs from my bule guy.
If a gal do that to u,means she just tried to rip u off n pretend that she is into u.

If someone is really loving u,she/he wont scam u by asking u some fancy stuffs she/he needs.

yepp… and thats what we call “cewek matre” or materialistic girls. And not all of us just like that.

Lol,deta,i think we have to ask swagman to go shopping with us..he has good experience with shopping-habits..(i like shopping…food, milk, fruits).

    Ketik c spasi d

    LoL yuuukkk belanja bulanan !

    @ deta

Umm…. may I know who wrote the book ‘shop till you drop’ or the famous book “confessions of a shopaholic’? Oh wait…they’re not indo girls, are they?

    Hahahahaha… yepppp you right.

    @ Adam

Thats why bringing boyfriend to shopping is not a good idea.

If i had to shop with him, i rather to let him sit in a cafe, with some latte, and tv, with magazine, after doing all of my shopping ill pick him up and catching up with him. He wont get annoyed about how much things i buy, he wont be grumpy because too tired walking with shop bags, and while me, i got all my stuff that i need, and its going to be another great day for me and my date!

  4. Swagman says:

    @ Farah

    You still talking about shopping?

  5. riniss says:

Lol,u guys are very entertaining me.

Q: why do girls love to talk about them selves and other girls?
A:because it is boring to talk about boys.

  6. ET says:

because it is boring to talk about boys.

Boring? And what about sex? “Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby.”

  7. Farah says:

    @ swagman

noopppe, i am talking about easter bunnies.

    @ riniss
    LOL hahaha!

    @ ET
Go a head ET open a new forum then.

  8. Laurence says:

Shopping is a good excuse for a date, esp when she try’s on clothes! You get to look and give comment.

Yeah, I think we are going to get on just fine Farah! That is exactly my idea of shopping with a girl. 🙂

  10. Swagman says:

    @ Farah & Adam

Yes, sit in the cafe like a good little boy – just enjoy your shoppping life together .. lol

  11. ariana says:

Aaaaahhhh…. I remember this shopping date stuff.

One day i was ill and run out of antibiotic. We were in Century pharmacy shop an he took my prescription. In front of the cashier i watched his mouth was wide open when he noticed he has to pay Rp. 500 thousands for those. And in the other occasion i asked him to just wait for me in a cafe while i do my quick shopping. And he’d rather there waiting like a good puppy. Not long after he was surprised saw me coming with a coach bag and a TAG heuer in my hands and asked me with his face puzzle why on earth would i spent for those expensive stuff… like the money came from his own pocket.

There were times when i run out of rupiah in my wallet and asked my bf that i need to buy small thing he always asked for every single penny i spent. Nah… my experience is indo guys who having a good salary are more generous than expat (read_bule).

So Swagman… did you really ever take your date shopping??? Just to be polite and respectful? Yeah, right.

  12. Swagman says:

    Hi Ariana

    No, I hate shopping 🙂

Ps. I think you have been dating the wrong expats!

  13. Farah says:

    @ swagman
Hahaha.. see who can’t accept indonesian girls about dating and shopping ! admit it, its a bad idea.

    @ Ariana
Thanks, i am about to write that down. I had same experience, but my bule boyfriend said things to made me feel guilty over a Prada saying that bag could feed more than 10 African children in a week.

And yesss…. i pay that my self, as a personal treat like once in length of time! (and its ok for him to spent triple money at Apple store!!).

  14. Farah says:

    @ Laurence

Shopping is a good excuse for a date, esp when she try’s on clothes! You get to look and give comment.

If i need to ask other people comments about clothes that i want to buy, i prefer to go with my girl friends or sisters… I trust their judgment better hahahaha….

  15. brian A says:

gay men love shopping, straight men dont like it at all. we prefer to have a beer with friends or just relax while the misses gets her shopping business done. Men also need to shop but it is usually done without much fuss, and in a quarter of the time. no doubt both people in the relationship enjoy some alone time from each other…women love to shop and men dont, perfect!

    @ ariana

i watched his mouth was wide open when he noticed he has to pay Rp. 500 thousands for those

aha, im confused. . who were the antibiotics for? and who ended up paying for them?
would not be the case with dating australian couple.

Nah… my experience is indo guys who having a good salary are more generous than expat (read_bule).

SAMA-SAMA but vice-vircer, my experience is bule girls are much more generous than indo girls….! WOW

    WOWWWOWWWWWWWW

    @Farah

but my bule boyfriend said things to made me feel guilty over a Prada saying that bag could feed more than 10 African children in a week.

    sounds like a fun relationship…!!!!!

    @Ariana
maybe you have been too honest with your comments, but does anyone else think she sound like a “GOLD DIGGER” kanye west … bring that beat back ONE TWO THREE

    – but look at the end of the day, his responses were probably very honest with open mouth, I knew when I was with my indo gf that I would happily let her buy some clothes etc, not expensive, maybe she was just more down to earth and didnt care about top quality brands….!

  16. bs says:

    @Brian
I’m as heterosexual as it gets and I love to take the miss out shopping. She enjoys it and smiles, if I buy her clothes or just a snack. I’ll kill for that smile.
But I have to admit I don’t like shopping on my own. That’s usually done in 10 minutes or less.

    @Farah
The real Prada? That’s really expensive. You must be a rich girl then. Do they even sell it outside Jakarta?

  17. Farah says:

    @ brian a
Yepp…. he is that.. type of guy, very considerate with poor.

    @bs
If you ask me that, i don’t even know the difference between the real thing or a fake with first quality from HK these days, but mine does comes with guarantee card and certificate with item numbers (short of, i don’t really read it).

I think they only sell that in certain mall in Jakarta. Its worth few month of my salary saving, but like i said, if a men could spent over 3 times of that price over a small laptop or new stereo set without any guilt, why can’t i pamper my self once upon a time (deeeuuhhh).

And bs, i do think its a rare occasion for a woman to bought clothes/apparel things in just 10 minutes. But if you do enjoy shopping like you said, its cool.

  18. Laurence says:

    Farah,

Only a man knows what looks good on a lady!! Other women will not tell the truth and unless we are buying sport or casual clothes, we do dress to impress the other sex.

  19. riniss says:

Hummm.im looking for ‘companion’ to go to a wedding party..

Btw farah, if ur bag has the same price as laptop,id prefer to buy laptop.;p
I dont really like shopping,btw.hehehe..if i need chlotes or bag, i just need 10mins *like bs did* to shopping.lol..

Btw,again, anyone here who want to travel to lombok on april or may this year?

  20. Swagman says:

    @ bs

I am always suspicious of guys that announce they are heterosexual and then go on to make a gay statement 🙂

    @ riniss

You are a very cool chick! I love Lombok and only wish I was available to accompany you 🙁

  21. ariana says:

    @ Swagman

Yeah, maybe i have. But that is common thing. That is probably every indonesian girls experience who date expat.

    @ Farah

Nah, don’t feel guilty. Especially if the money wasn’t come from his. Hunger people in Africa? C’mon… Live only once. In fact, they would spend their full few months of salary just for tires! and strange gadjet.

    @ Brian

Wooow woooowwoowww…. You sound more like those local surfer in kuta.

I must say that he would be happy buying me something from his favorite gadjet store. But since im not a tech savvy i dont think i would need a new iPhone that im sure would giving me hard time to use it.

Anyways, as an ordinary indonesian girl i would be happier if he just take me to a movie for a date, hang out in a cafe or trying new ethnic food or just stay at home watching him cook or watch DVD’s or play games.

    Right, Farah? 😀

  22. riniss says:

    to ariana:

i agree with u about take to movie or stay at home watch dvd or play games.

better to treat me like that than take me to go to store and shopping some stuffs for hours then after that i need the massage treatment for my sore feet.

*u can say im kind of ‘boring’ gal maybe. i dont like shopping very much. i spent my salary much for books, dvds, cds, and food!lol.i like food.

well, but i respect everyone’s favorite things to do.
    🙂
if u love shopping, s’il te plait.that’s ur right and the way how u treat ur self to be happy.

    to swagman:
lol.im still talking about shopping. wanna kung fu me, now, huh?

  23. Adam says:

All this talk about shopping, it makes my hungry! Now that is the way to make a guy happy you know girls! As long as I know there is a good feed at the end of it , I am quite happy! haha 🙂

  24. Farah says:

    @ laurence
If my bf quite ‘fashionalista’ in one way i would love it, had shopping companion, and i know i am in “right hand”,but being so fashionalista sometimes could mean he is a gay.

    @ riniss
Jeung ! I am thinking of one thousand island for past few days. Browse a lot about Pramuka island and some other island there. From blogs, and pictures, its seem worthed have you been there? planning to go there maybe this Jan when i went to Jakarta or in Feb (yuuukkkkk!)

I had a toshiba already before the bag, i could be a geek too @.@ (in certain level)

    @ ariana
No i wont, its just a treat for my self. If i took someone money, i would feel guilty heheh..
Hahaha.. yepp car tires, spinners, aeromodeling planes, new car paint, tools, etc and things that they don’t even use (all of those shiny metallic things) hehe..

Yes i would be agree, i think dating means some quiet time just with him (wink wink) and he focus on me not someone else arse, or that new i-phone or crack berry sale!!

  25. brian A says:

i agree with u about take to movie or stay at home watch dvd or play games.
