Dating Indonesian Girls

Indonesian women, particularly on the island of Java, are exceptionally beautiful. They tend towards the very feminine side, with lovely skin, are not too tall, and have knock-out smiles. There’s plenty of plus on that side of things.
If wer’e to be honest we have to recognise that many men are interested in a woman who will take care of him, do the housework without complaint, and take care of other matters similarly without much bother. Your average Indonesian girl often fits the bill in this respect, certainly more than your average western woman, the less said about them the better.
On the other hand going out with Indonesian women in a romantic way can have many mysterious pitfalls.
Some women here are clearly only interested in money. Some men are unbothered by this. Others of the female variety, can, once we get to know them very well, come across as practically insane, hysterically emotional, scheming, over-possessive, inclined to, usually fake, attempts at self-harm in order to get their way. As I said, not for the faint-hearted.

Sounds like you’ve thoroughly prepared yourself. Don’t worry about bahasa Indonesia. Although use of local languages can be the norm in some places, all women seem to watch sinetron (which is in bahasa Indonesia). I think the national exams are in Indonesian too.You biggest problem will likely be switching from formal to colloquial language (using ‘bicara’ instead of ‘berbicara’, ‘aku’ instead of ‘saya’, etc.).

This may seem like a stupid question (or two) and you all may think it is, but hey, I have been married for 20 years and out of the dating game.
So, when I get to Indonesia and decide I like someone, is there any difference to in Aus. Should I just say, would you like to go for a coffee and a chat? That sought of thing and see how it goes?
I of course don’t want to do anything wrong by being to forward or disrespectful.

Bahasa Indonesia from malay language its from Sumatra. Yes we use it daily, so you shouldn’t be afraid. We do have certain local language, every region had it. Like in North Sumatra, you will find more than 2 local language dialect. Its completely different from one another. But no worries, most of sumatra use indonesian language 🙂
And yes, its a good thing if you would involving her in most of your time. Yahh almost the same like anywhere else in the world. Just ask more politely, and ask more than once ok ? 🙂 we are eastern we are tend to be “more shy” to answer directly at first hahahaha….

That will be the basic level.
For the intermediate level, you will have to use ‘ngomong’ instead of ‘bicara’ and ‘gue’ instead of ‘aku’.
For the advanced level, you will have to use ‘ngemeng’ instead of ‘ngomong’ and ‘akika’ instead of ‘gue’
Sorry Adam, don’t take it seriously, I just love the diversity of bahasa Indonesia ;-). -

Looking back to one of your posts about any difference in the dating game in Indo to here. I think a smile and hello will help and just ask if the person you like wants to go out and eat etc. Indonesian women are quite open, friendly and will enjoy having a chat and will let you know if they like you or not.

But if you follow the standard creepiness rule: your age divided by two, plus seven 😉

I seriously need to rethink my equations then, I was being generous I thought by dividing by 5 and multiplying by 4. IE: 52/5*4= 42.
Your figures of 52/2+7= 32

@ BS: Well, I am fortunate to have about 90 Facebook friends in Indonesia now so I am not going to be alone when I arrive. I am sure they will look after me very well indeed.
I need to study my bahasa more each day though that will be a key for me as well I think. Being comfortable with a native language must be a good thing.
