Dating Indonesian Girls

Apr 4th, 2006, in Society, by

Dating Indonesian women may not be for everyone.

Indonesian women, particularly on the island of Java, are exceptionally beautiful. They tend towards the very feminine side, with lovely skin, are not too tall, and have knock-out smiles. There’s plenty of plus on that side of things.

If wer’e to be honest we have to recognise that many men are interested in a woman who will take care of him, do the housework without complaint, and take care of other matters similarly without much bother. Your average Indonesian girl often fits the bill in this respect, certainly more than your average western woman, the less said about them the better.

On the other hand going out with Indonesian women in a romantic way can have many mysterious pitfalls.

Some women here are clearly only interested in money. Some men are unbothered by this. Others of the female variety, can, once we get to know them very well, come across as practically insane, hysterically emotional, scheming, over-possessive, inclined to, usually fake, attempts at self-harm in order to get their way. As I said, not for the faint-hearted.

There are a few Indonesia dating websites although the area is not nearly as developed as that in nearby Phillipines or Thailand. To begin your online journey on the Indonesian dating scene our very own “Meet” section has many a lady eager for company.

Iโ€™ve been to Bali quite some times, And I always loose more money to local scams (guides, transport, shops, food stalls) than govt or hotels. But maybe thatโ€™s just me.

It’s probably just you. Before buying anything always check and compare prices first. And don’t fall for their smiles or ‘aduh bangkrut’. Always watch your money and if they become annoying just give them the ‘cold shoulder’. Never forget they want your money more than you need their junk or ‘services’.
I’ve been living here for more than 10 years and I also learned it the hard way.

Pak ketut only want to curhat here, might too upset about competition there and blame government somehow. Maybe he should write complains about that somewhere here, but not on this thread, you are right its definitely OOT.

    About why they afraid?

Once my western friend from student exchange said, they had lack of confident dating with western girls (they treat guys . And when they see asian girls that they assume as very very pretty (soft spoken, respect them) they had less confident to even start good conversation (talk about weather?lame…).

Thats just one info that i know ๐Ÿ˜€ (gak tau ya kalau itu cuma bujuk rayu pulau kelapa)

In some places its also become tourist destination, like West Sumatra, Aceh and Nias, people went there for surfing these days.

Especially Aceh. Many tourist attractions there, like floggings after Friday prayers.

I don’t think the guys over here are afraid of Indonesian girls. It’s just that most people live within a few kilometres from where they are born and meet partners there. Besides that, just the ticket to Indonesia (from Europe) is between 800 and 1100 euro. Then you still need a hotel and pay all Kentut’s friends in Bali. There actually are a lot of people here that can’t afford that and just have their holidays in Southern Europe.

  5. Ketut says:

    Farah,

    Your comment:

Wahโ€ฆ you such ignorant then. How come someone who travel around, and educated in WESTERN COUNTRY had such opinion. Capek deh. Maybe you spent your time too long in western country that you forgot that Indonesia are left behind about hundred years due to colonialism to learn about good live standard.

Now that is the most ignorant comment of the year!! COLONIALISM hehehehehe the root of indonsesia s problems colonialism hahahahaha.

    Fact:

    USA colony of england,

    Australia a colony of england,

    Malaysia colony of england,

    Vietnam colony of france

Canada etc the list go’s on. Where has past colonialism held these countries back?????

Don’t forget east timor former colony of indonesia, how are they going there, not real well.

It is actually disturbing that you believe and are willing to write such utter nonsense, it also disturbing that you have a problem with improving bali, maybe you just jealous or hate the balinese? Do you? Are you?

  6. Farah says:

    @ Pak ketut

    Fact:

    USA colony of england,

    Australia a colony of england,

    Malaysia colony of england,

    Vietnam colony of france

Canada etc the list goโ€™s on. Where has past colonialism held these countries back?????

Sigh, okay lets do this slowly so you could understand (i am just local university student lohhh, mudah2an gak salah). Lets do the comparison, shall we?

    Example:
USA independence in 1776, thats 169 years ahead Indonesia which is in 1945
Australia independence 1778, thats 167 years ahead Indonesia which is in 1945

When they already have freedom we still under colonialism, we still fighting to get the freedom. You are like comparing an OLD-MATURE 80 years old guy to 13 years old or maybe 8 years old kids.

You can’t compare those countries stability with Indonesia. They waaaayyyyyy ahead us in most of everything including LIVE STANDARD or LAWS. We are currently still using most of colonialism laws pak Ketut. We are, indonesian, are still learning about how to reach good live standard, good education, better laws enforcement, we are in the process of learning.
    So stop whining.

You should open your studying books more often there hehehehe….

Donโ€™t forget east timor former colony of indonesia, how are they going there, not real well.

I don’t know if Timor is indonesia colony, what i know is Timor is one part of indonesia. At least they had the best asphalt, better than in my province tho.

I think we should really stop discuss about politics and history in dating thread.

  7. Farah says:

    oh correction…

There is no Independence Day for Australia and the 26th of January is actually the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet, and is known as Australia Day (or Invasion Day some say).

Australia reached nationhood on the 1st of January 1901, when an act of the British Parliament was proclaimed to allow the 6 colonies to federate into the Commonwealth of Australia – the Federation of Australia.

And apparently this event is generally speaking not celebrated – probably due to hangovers of new years eve ๐Ÿ˜€

Any Oz could help me here with more explanation maybe?

  8. Ketut says:

    Farah,

Ahh Australia has had no independence, 1778 is the date of european settlement, Australia is still a colony of sorts even had vote to change a few years ago but stay same allthough they had federation in the early 1900’s.

1776 is the date when 13 colonies in the US signed independence from England, other states were still been formed and taken from the natives in the war with Mexico in the mid 1800’s.

    Malaysia independence in 1957.

    Singapore in 1948.

Following your comments, Indonesia should be in fact be better than Singapore and nearly the same as Malaysia and slightly behind Australia which sorry to say all still have colonial european laws and are well ahead of Indonesia.

Maybe you do asphalt in your provience hahahahaha.

Hey you wanted to change subject back to original thread but posted another on australia.

  9. Hi Farah,

It’s not exactly clear when Australia became independent. Of course, I’m Indonesian, a leading local ukulele player and poet from Probolinggo. But I’m studying about Australia to help plan an invasion and occupation of that country.

  10. David says:

Itโ€™s not exactly clear when Australia became independent.

Yes, it happened gradually, but it’s certainly independent now, as much as any country can be not dependent (on America these days), which is what ‘independent’ means, that is. But there is no ‘independence day’ celebration, probably because there was no struggling and fighting to get there, it happened peacefully and slowly like I said. So not a whole lot to go cheering about.

  11. Farah says:

    @ pak ketut

Its a correction, can’t you SEE?

Nooo.. i am just local university student who live in jungle in sumatra. You should be better doing asphalt better since you study abroad and live in famous island, Bali ๐Ÿ˜€ don’t be so humble… you know the standard better than i do dearest pak Ketut.

    @ pak Achmad

But Iโ€™m studying about Australia to help plan an invasion and occupation of that country.

    Hehe.. go for it !

  12. Ketut says:

    Farah,

Maybe when your not planning invasion you could help a bule I know, he like dating educated sumatra jungle girl as he use to date a batak. You would have friends yes?

  13. Swagman says:

It was Achmad that wants to invade my country, not Farah!

    Hello to all ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Swagman says:

Final independence for Australia was achieved 3rd March, 1986 with the passing of the Australia Act 1986. The Australia Act effectively terminated the ability of the British Parliament or Government to make laws for Australia or its States, even at their request; and provided that any law which was previously required to be passed by the British Parliament on behalf of Australia could now be passed by Australia and its States by themselves.

Independence of Australia from the United Kingdom, rather than occurring as a single event in history, has, in legal terms, been a continuing process. Some of the significant milestones have been:

    – mid-1800s: acquisition of substantial internal self-government by the colonies
    – 1901: establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia
    – 1927: development of the “shared” monarchy
    – 1931: passing of the Statute of Westminster
    – 1986: passing of the Australia Act

Since the Australia Act, the only remaining constitutional link with the United Kingdom (if it is one) is in the person of the monarch (Queen of Australia). But even that connection may not be automatic. In an important constitutional case (Sue v Hill (1999) 163 ALR 648), three justices of the High Court of Australia (the ultimate court of appeal) expressed the view that if the British Parliament were to alter the law of succession to the throne, such a change could not have any effect on the monarchy in Australia, because of the Australia Act: succession to the throne would continue in Australia according to the existing rule, unless and until that was altered in Australia.

The same case decided (and on this point the decision is binding) that the United Kingdom is a “foreign power” within the meaning of the Constitution, and therefore that holders of British citizenship are ineligible for election to the Federal Parliament.

So, Achmad now has useful information to plan his invasion … a small warning, you may get a little resistance as most Aussie’s like it the way it is here!

** some info lifted from Wikipedia.com

  15. Swagman says:

PS. I also have some experience with dating Indonesian girls …. that is why I have joined this forum. So please don’t think I will be banging on about Australia – I won’t! I simply wanted to give Achmad some useful info for his current project.

Now .. let’s talk about those lovely girls (with total respect of course ๐Ÿ™‚ )

  16. Oigal says:

“USA independence in 1776, thats 169 years ahead Indonesia which is in 1945

Always had trouble with this kind of nonsense excuse, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia the list goes on. All had to undergo significant challenges to get to where they are today, some faced greater challenges than Indonesia some less. More importantly it assumes that the current generation are incapable of achieving what others can, which is a best patronising nonsense.

The reality is Indonesia has the natural wealth, the human captial and the geographic advantage to be THE leader in SE Asia. The question is why isn’t she? It certainly has nothing to do with anything that happened 60 years ago or more. That is and remains a sad copout.

Australia was not even close to independent in 1778, although 60 years after that…

  17. brian astaga says:

    i like you swagman

better Achmad leave his musical instrument in his village also.

what stories do you have swagman, lets get this forum back to topic?

I have personally made a decision with my ‘indonesian GF’ that I only want to talk to her maybe 3-4 a week with coll. Because unless you are marry or serius with these girls, making a committment to coll them every night ends up in confusion.

say for example, and just and example, some night she is buzy and doesnt answer your coll, or you coll her and there is a man in the background….
just results in too many headaches TOO MUCH THINKING.

in my opinion and someone said this earlier in the thread. If you act too serious with a GF overseas then I think its heading for heartbreak.

still can tell each other like boyfriend and girlfriend, but in reality better to be more like best friends instead of BF or GF, because they are too far away, so what can we do?

trust…and honestly ya ya ya ya
instead of the headache just be good friends to them, and my plan just to go and visit every 2-3 months and take care of my girl when I am there let her remember somebody cares alot about her. Until after some time when both can actually say and committ ๐Ÿ™‚

    baik baik bagus

  18. @ Swagman:

It’ll be easy. The Australians play girly pansy games like Rugby which people like Oigal watch to get steamed up before logging on to Playgirl-like websites.

We’ll just send down cases of Bir Bintang and the Aussies will drink them all and get drunk and we’ll storm through.

    @ Oigal:

The reality is Indonesia has the natural wealth, the human captial and the geographic advantage to be THE leader in SE Asia. The question is why isnโ€™t she? It certainly has nothing to do with anything that happened 60 years ago or more. That is and remains a sad copout.

So what’s your explanation ? Perhaps you think Indonesians need the guiding hand of the White Man to steer them away from corruption, indolence and poor safety standards. Or maybe we just need a country that “hits above it’s weight.” If there was ever a diplomatic FONC in Southeast Asia, it was Australia: we just snigger at all their speeches and cash those sweet aid cheques.

  19. Swagman says:

    Hello Brian – apa kabar?

Ah yes … that old story … bf/gf thousands of kilometres apart … she wants a call every night to make sure you don’t slip away … you hate being cramped and forced to lie about what you are doing and who you are with … because that would hurt her feelings, wouldn’t it?

Well, in my humble opinion (and experience) this sort of confused relationship is not isolated to Indonesian girl. You may not want to be her bf, however you are stuck with it because you are probably “helping” her.

Solution? Honesty is always the best policy mate. If you want her to know that someone cares (I am sure they all do) then tell her you care and also tell her how you feel. Btw, how do you feel? Is your lovely lady a good friend or just an easy squeeze during your trip?

I am not trying to be a smart*** sorry, just attempting to warm up the topic.

    Cheers

  20. Swagman says:

    Yummy betel nut, right Achmad?

  21. Farah says:

    @ Pak Ketut
I am planning a love invasion to OZ. Currently doing the strategic planing here.

No problemo, i think i know a very nice batak girl. Just PM me with details.

    @ swagman

Well my invasion come with peace.. no worries.

    @ brian astaga
Its better if both agree to call at least 3 times a week and no obligation which days. It quite fun, because we will have more story to tell, and the waiting hahahaha… i still could remember to always keep my cellphone with me (even on my class !!) because the time difference is almost like 12 hrs, so ill never know when he will call me.
But because you are in OZ you could text her daily too, once a day or two. Just to say things like “i miss you” or “thinking of you” only that short, but trust me, its meaningful !

i think every girls like tiny details like that in relationship.

  22. Swagman says:

    @ Farah

You are a romantic! Very cool ๐Ÿ™‚ That will keep us cynical ones in line.

Btw if you need any assistance with strategic planning for Oz invasion, just yell!

  23. Farah says:

    @ swagman
Ohh we will see what happened, i get a hunch it could be very good successful invasion or it could be very tragic one ! ill might will need yell to you hahahaha !

  24. Oigal says:

FONC…Yawn..nothing new for the coming year I see…

  25. riniss says:

Lets hang out together on new year’s eve!(hehe.impossible huh!).i hate jakarta when new year’s eve.too crowded!;(

  26. Adam says:

I wish I was going to be there to hang out with you Riniss. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sadly it won’t be this year.

I need to stay home to deflect the impending invasion from Achmad. Oh. I don’t mind Achmad of course, it is that dreaded ukelele I fear most. It could ruin our music industry over night! ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Ketut says:

    Farah,

How u plan to do love invasion to oz???

  28. riniss says:

    brian astaga:
yes, im talking about indonesian girls. i said “afraid” because i had experience there was a bule guy on internet i met *no special relation i expected from him, honestly!* and he said he was afraid of me, the reason was because on my profile, about the ethnic i like, i wrote only “white” (hey, that’s only a profile!).LOL.and also because im from southeast asia (indonesia is SEA also rite?).
    1.maybe he thought i ONLY like white,because:
    im the member of KK???.LOL.
2.afraid of Indo (SEA girls) because he was afraid of being scammed.
    that what i assumed.

but still have no ideas why he was afraid of me…..*confuse*
or maybe he never talk to any girls from SEA or ever talked to/had relation with SEA girls and being rip-off??hmmm….:P

BS, hm maybe u are right.they never been here (since the ticket is much expensive) , so that’s why they are afraid of the girls from south east asia.
*and was that a typo again?hahahhahahha*

    and farah,
so, do u agree that WE (u and me, and other indo girls) are pretty??LOL…
or it is because like people said *sorry, no offense for all bules fellas* bules just dont know which one is pretty-indonesian girls/for them all indonesian girls are pretty *but it makes me happy to know that.hehhehehe*

    Adam,
oh?dont be afraid of achmad invasion.he just wanted to bring and introduce ukelele to all oz people. and it could be possible he will teach u how to play ukelele.

well, lets back to the original topic.:)

  29. Farah says:

    @ riniss
Its a very good idea… but ill pass.. hahah my work sched. end until Jan 15, still had long long days to go ! but yah.. planning to go back to JKT for two week next month if theres not much happening.

Pretty or beautiful is universal. You will never know girl ! what we think as ugly here are pretty out there. I think you saw on tv what some tribe in africa think pretty is (have more tatoes, or lips as big as a plate?) or in china old time, have smaller feet, so they bend their feet (ouch that hurt). Old time in greek fat lady are pretty (ever see any skinny aphrodite statue?). And those bule think our skin, light-dark brown are pretty… so.. it does make sense. Because i think most of us think fair-white skin are pretty !!

So, if you don’t think you are pretty, how come people will see you that way? so yepppp we are pretty ! hehehe…. (pede nyaaa hahahahahaha)

    @ pak ketut
First, have to somehow finish my visa application for sure, book a flight, that kind of thing.

  30. riniss says:

    Thumbs up to farah..!
So,will we meet in jakarta during ur days off?;)..
