Indonesian women, particularly on the island of Java, are exceptionally beautiful. They tend towards the very feminine side, with lovely skin, are not too tall, and have knock-out smiles. There’s plenty of plus on that side of things.
If wer’e to be honest we have to recognise that many men are interested in a woman who will take care of him, do the housework without complaint, and take care of other matters similarly without much bother. Your average Indonesian girl often fits the bill in this respect, certainly more than your average western woman, the less said about them the better.
On the other hand going out with Indonesian women in a romantic way can have many mysterious pitfalls.
Some women here are clearly only interested in money. Some men are unbothered by this. Others of the female variety, can, once we get to know them very well, come across as practically insane, hysterically emotional, scheming, over-possessive, inclined to, usually fake, attempts at self-harm in order to get their way. As I said, not for the faint-hearted.

But indonesia does have social problems(every country has)… Why don’t you believe in yourself ? Is that peom the best you can do? I think indonesians are slaves of indonesian nowadays…..the white men is out of the equation. So by focusing on the wrong place you will get nowere.
Anyhow i will stop replying to this thread. I think people like Achmad are just putting oil on fire without bringing any quality arguments to the debate.

I have a question for people in this forum?? Does anyone know what happened to the propose law that would require orang asing to pay Rp 500jt to marry an Indonesian woman?? I know it has not passed but is it dead or will another member of DPR/MPR try and revive the law??

Hey you are right brother! Matrilineal is a new word to me. It is more apt than Matriarchal. Darn, my biological and adopted sisters even got more than a fair share of inheritance from my parents’ will. Sometime I wish I am Chinese. Anyway, my point again is that Javanese respect their womanfolk. If you heard of Javanese or Melayus mistreating their wives, daughter, it is either out of character or they are Islamized.

Your mentality ‘blame it on the Islamists’ is so typical Bule (and hypocritical). I for one, grew up and spent half of my life in homes away from home (Brunei, Singapore, Pakistan, India, etc) and I know what the people think. To be fair, well not all Bules are perverts, not the real expats who had valid reason to live and work in Asian countries; but the recent phenomena – explosion of English teachers in South East Asian countries, who are here for reasons other than teaching. I have a dinner meeting with my Chinese associates when I was in Shanghai last month, and the conversations was then switched ‘off-topic’ about Japs. We talked about Jap men being sexually dysfunctioned; and my Chinese friends said Japs learnt it from ‘bien dai yang ren’ meaning ‘sexually perverted White man’. From Shanghai to Jakarta to New Delhi, the general perception of Bules in all Asian countries are the same.
