Indonesian women, particularly on the island of Java, are exceptionally beautiful. They tend towards the very feminine side, with lovely skin, are not too tall, and have knock-out smiles. There’s plenty of plus on that side of things.
If wer’e to be honest we have to recognise that many men are interested in a woman who will take care of him, do the housework without complaint, and take care of other matters similarly without much bother. Your average Indonesian girl often fits the bill in this respect, certainly more than your average western woman, the less said about them the better.
On the other hand going out with Indonesian women in a romantic way can have many mysterious pitfalls.
Some women here are clearly only interested in money. Some men are unbothered by this. Others of the female variety, can, once we get to know them very well, come across as practically insane, hysterically emotional, scheming, over-possessive, inclined to, usually fake, attempts at self-harm in order to get their way. As I said, not for the faint-hearted.

Also, how did an illiterate man write down having rembered vast tracts of text, the Koran. Have you heard of Chinese whispers? You whisper something on and it changes drastically by the time it comes to the last person. So, by the time it was written down it must of changed ( the Koran ) even if it was one word! That could of changed such an important part of the whole book. So, where is the harm in finding out about life from other sources? Why can’t you pick and choose things that fit your life right now. From Buddha to Plato to some 20 and 21st century feminists? What about the writings of noam chomsky( not so much his linguistic writings but his political writings ) Find out what westerners are trying to do to make the west better . Fighting against the western troops in the middle east. Fighting against poverty in the world. Fighting against greedy western politicians etc etc. Maybe you do though?
All the major religions have been mostly male dominated around the world and that has included the west. The christian churches used to burn women in Europe and America because they were scared of them. They used to call them witches but that was just an excuse because they were afraid of their power they had within them. They were afraid that the church was going to lose its power over peoples minds. They were afraid that people would think for themselves. In the end the churches lost a lot of their power in the west but regretably not all!
People prefer to read other peoples’ thoughts via books and make up their own minds’ in the west now, but i don’t see your libraries and book shops reflecting 160 million approx peoples desire to learn and understand the world. Why is this? Keep people without real knowledge and you have a very easily controled people. The governments of the world love this stuff. Bit of patriotism etc. Wave the Indonesian flag and the poor jump. They are the ones going to fight in the army etc for the super rich, whoose children you never see dying for there country!
Also, someone i came across mentioned nudist beaches in the west. This is where men and women go to the beach to get a suntan all over their bodies. I have never been to one but i know from pics of them that people tend not to be having sex on the beach! They are liberated. They can have sex at home later! Even without their parents consent!!! People think westerners are having sex all the time whenever they can! Women in the west choose who they want a relationship with as well as men. Sometimes they get it wrong and it doesn’t work. There is crying, girlfriends consoling, mums and dads helping etc. You don’t live with someone in the west and have no problems.

What, share the electricity bills, the gas bills, the water bills, and the price of new furniture. Trying to find out who wants to go out with whoose friends. Who cooks the food tonight after work! Whoose turn it is to do the dishes tonight! etc etc. Whoose doing the cleaning this week. it takes a lot more work than a marriage where the woman stays at home and looks after the man!!! Sure you know where you are but wow!!! BORING! Wow you people have not a clue about this really! What a lot of Indoensian women want is a man to take them to the west and then they can have the same kind of relationship that they have with an Indonesian man. Life is not like that. Or they want to take the man’s money that he has got before he met her and party! But westerners need to try and stay away from them anyways.

The emotional impetus for this sort of thing is from a psychological standpoint motivated by feelings of inferiority. Anger at offense is usually exacerbated by feeling threatened by outside forces, and similar inappropriate reactions can be seen in gang culture in the justification of murdering people for “dissing” you. Are there parallels between the actions of certain conservative Islamic movements and the poor and minorities? Why is this the case if Islam is the “worlds fastest growing religion?”
What should the world community who condemns this action do? Some have suggested removal of contributions and support to Afghanistan, but this would seem to primarily hurt the moderate central government.There are obviously other issues as well, so feel free to raise them.

It’s very interesting to finally find out what some western men think about Indonesian women. I myself find western men more attractive than Indonesian men for some reasons. It’s more than physical things, and I think Mark got a point. I can’t call me a feminist, but I really hate the patriarchy (hope I use the right term) world I’m living in, that make some women (well, at least me) feel like we’re the second class citizen. I learnt at a very early age that I was different from my brothers, because I’m not a boy. I always want to get everything they’re entitled of, but it was not a wise thing to ask for, since I would be told over and over as a girl I shouldn’t have asked too much (it wasn’t too much for my brothers tho).
When I went to universities, I was told by my parents to take ‘women’s major’. I wanted to take the International Relations but my father strictly forbid, or I should forget about going to uni. Instead, parents want me to take something ‘not too complicated’ so I could finish early, then get married and be a housewife.
In my journey of life, I read books about western cultures, met some westerners, and I learnt lotsa things about them. What I like the most is, the fact that they (sometimes) treat women equally, and see female less as an object. While dealing with Indonesian men, all I got was expectiation to become a ‘manager’ at home and ‘children;s factory’. It’s also a hard thing to be accepted that as a wife you’re not expected to give your opinion, let alone to make decisions.
I think that’s where I grew my interest in dating western guys. But I think we shouldn’t expect too much only based on some random stuff. I met lotsa western guys who treated women worse than the Indonesian guys. I met those who were only interested in taking advantage of the ‘stupid Indonesian women’. I know there are lots of false stereotypes about Indonesian women, but I think sometimes it’s true there are bad western guys who come here because they know they can’t compete in their own countries, while here they can be little King and get whatever they can’t get in western world.
I dated some western guys who are the kind of person I always imagine but they’re human anyways (just like me), and met some others who are impossible, seeing me as a sex object and think I’m after their money (even when I make more money than them) and would slowly trap them into marriage things outside their willingness.
So I think I just forget about stereotypes, learn a person from who he/she is, keep repeating in my head that he can be good or bad, but by not having expectations I can safe myself from being disappointed.

It’s very difficult to have an argument if you don’t really know much about the west. Your not on your own. A lot of westerns don’t know much about the west.
As for being in Indonesia living like Kings etc. You should stop the envy it’s not becoming.
But the housing etc isn’t much good here compared to the west in general. When i am in the uk i try and get about on a great little bicycle because of the problem with car pollution in the world. To have a big car and pollute the environment and so spoiling childrens lungs etc isn’t something so clever to me. It’s not about living like a king somewhere to me but trying to do things that don’t hurt others. I wouldn’t buy a car in Indonesia as you have enough polluction here. Your chopping down the rain forest here so that greedy people can make more money selling hard wood etc. This so for your short lives you can get a german mercedes to look an idiot in as the world starts to cook. You should be careful what you write about people jen.
I choose to go to different parts of the world and not die the richest man in the grave yard! Another choice. I don’t stay in my own country working my way up the ladder because that’s the choice i and others have made. Yes we have a choice men and women. We are encouraged to be who we want to be. Some of us choose the wrong path. But at least we have the choice. And the reason i am in Indonesia is not because i can have sex with indonesian women. They don’t in general read sex manuals and don’t seem to know anything about sex compared to western women. I don’t find them very exciting. Maybe if they think that sex is about the man having an orgasm, but then i don’t really want to know! I want to see the woman have some pleasure too. Do many indonesian women know what an orgasm is. I would imagine that the women ( especially the muslim ones whoose clitoris has been knife attacked so that they are encouraged not to enjoy sex ) don’t get much of a chance to find out about orgasms huh?!! Western women don’t want to feel ashamed about this. Western women in general are horrified about how muslim womens’ clitorises are cut at. Why. Oh so you know what position you have within your male orientated society. Yuch. So instead of looking at western men and blaming them for your awful lifestyles, look at yourselves and try and change your lives. But fear is a killing thing huh.

I didn’t plan to argue with you or other people in the forum in anyways when I wrote what I’d written. I just wrote because I need to say what I had in mind. And I won’t ask you or other people to agree in everything I said. It’s up to you. I think people react based on their previous learning in life. I don’t say being a western (you are, aren’t you?) you live like a little King here in my country. But I knew some western guys who did. I wasn’t envy them or anything, luckily I live a good and comfortable life here in Indonesia. I just don’t like the way those guys think they’re more superior and think of others lower than them. If you think I was making a generalization, well, I wasn’t.
I wouldn’t wanna compare Jakarta (can’t talk bout other city in Indonesia cuz I’ve been living here in Jkt for all my life) to any other western city like the one in UK for example. Most of those countries are developed countries, while Indonesia is a developing country with so many problems need to be fixed. We’re young, we’re inexperienced, we’re so trying to find out what’s best for us, and nobody said it was easy. We have problems with corruption for example, but hey, don’t you have it also there in western countries? Of course you’d expect life is better there in UK. I’ve been to several cities in SE Asia and Europe, and in every step of my travelling experience I always hope that one day Jkt will be a little bit more civilized in some matters, say like public transportation. Be free to judge me for having 2 cars, one for me to facilitate me better in doing my business and another one for my daughter, who needs to be taken to school and her other activities, but in my point of view I got no other better choice. I’m aware of the pollution and global warming, but I’d experiences bad stuff in my younger life in public transportation. I was almost raped, robbed, and harassed many times in busses and taxis. I just try to make my life more comfortable that I have the choice doing so. You can say that in any other places, I’d prefer to ride metro/tube/underground/BTS not only it’s cheaper, it’s also less hassle and faster than any other mass transportation. And in Yogya last week, I had a great time riding andong (it smelled really bad tho, they don’t have such as toilette training for the horses) and never for a bit thought of my comfortable car with a/c and dvd player.
Oh, and I never say that we Indonesian women are sex goddess nor you come here to have sex with Indonesian women. Hehehe. If some western men find us attractive, it’s not our fault, as it’s not their faults that I found some western men are attractive. It’s just purely about preference, just like I prefer water over coffee, or beaches over mountains. And it’s not like I like all western men. I can’t say I’m an expert in Kama Sutra (that’s the only sex manual that I’m aware of), but I’m so glad that I’d never been complained of being an inexperienced Indonesian woman (compared to western women according to you) I am. You can say I’m lucky, but I guess i’m being careful with whoever I go to bed with. I wouldn’t wanna be in a situation with a guy complain about me being not so talented in bed. Just like you prefer western women because for you they know the meaning of pleasure etc when it comes to sex, I’d rather be with someone who can appreciate me in bed instead of with someone who can only judge me wrong because of my nationality/race/religion.
Ok, I will stop this as I don’t have anything to defend. In my opinion you will never understand because you had never experienced dating a bad westerner as well as a good one. For me it is life, I’ll meet more good westerners and also bad ones, just like I will meet good and bad Indonesians or other nationalities.

It’s urban slang mainly used by Mexicans and other Hispanics in the US. It’s an expression of solidarity between the “brown skinned” brothers and sisters. Latinos consider themselves brown skinned as opposite to white and blacks. I’m of mixed Dutch-Indonesian blood but my skin is definitely brown, not white or yellowish.
Sometimes protesting people (what we often see in Iran) are carrying boards with slogans like “Down with the USA” or “Down with the West”. Literally they’re opposing the USA and West, in urban language (street talk) they’re showing affection for the USA and West. 😆

– awareness of a clean environment
– almost perfect gender equity

– lack of natural resources and commodities although rich in water

About one of the types of ‘gadis Indonesia+bule’ relationships there’s a really great short story from Pamoedya Ananta Toer you should read. It’s called “Jongos+Babu – sejarah keluarga yang sangat panjang” and you can find it in the book “Cerita dari Jakarta” (Tales from Djakarta).
But not all stories in real life are like the ones portraited in that cerpen. I married an East Timorese-Chinese mestiza and we are really happy together.

Do you know that recorded stories about Mohammed was written a hundred year after his death? Sources are variative as years and events were not accuratively written. However, pedophilies have the history of repeated cases in tracking down children. Mohammed did not. It is normal to marry children at that times.
