I titled this post “What is Racism?” because, hmm, some stereotypes about different peoples are actually true, and in scientific terms a stereotype must be true, or else it isn’t a stereotype…But I don’t know if there is some formula that determines at what point the exceptions to the rule become so numerous that the stereotype breaks down and has to be abandoned.
I generally don’t like accusations of “racist” and “racism” being thrown around, they are substitutes for thought and argument, or they attempt to stop thought and argument, but I don’t think I’m alone in getting weary at some people constantly carping about Chinese or Anglos, or whoever…

In the racism today there are 62 laws related to the human rights and the discrimination happening around Indonesia. The racism happening in many places around Indonesia is from discriminatory conduct until the human rights abuses. The Maluku and Ambon people are one of the examples the tension has been built over the centuries the fight goes on but it always triggers by provocateurs from each sides.
The chaos happening on May 1998, the Chinese were target of killing, torture, and rape. Their houses are robbed their shops are looted and all the shops that belongs to the Chinese people are all burn down looted and robbed, they were all taken by force. The chaos that is targeted to the Chinese made the racism stronger, and not the two sides are discriminating each others. This is not only cause by government, the racism is tooted and nurtured to the youths minds thought out decades, so to end it, it would take a lot of hard work, and also an abundant of time.
Racist is basically a hate/dislike of a certain race. This racist is happening everywhere all around Indonesia, and yet the world itself. It usually based on skin color, stereotype and other differences between humans. It is human right to like or dislike others, but just to clarify that racism is wrong. People who are racist have this kind of things in minds “All humans are equal all cultures are not” this statement is true, and undeniable, but what makes you think that your culture is better that other, and what makes you think that you can discriminate other culture. The problem starts with just a thought but then it expands to a problem for a nation.I’m not taking sides, but just think who is torture. N anyway what do we ever do to you?

If one were to see the film Fahrenheit 9/11 and the Bush Adminstration tells us all what the US did to other countries were within the similarity to benefit their endeavor. When no achievements prevails then they ooked up a scheme to destroy them And that was what the Indonesians like most. Of course I am referring to those Chinese Hater and those political elites who betray their countrymen and their country’s interest.
Racism comes in all form and types as you can see yourself in some of these blogs.

I’m a very young guy, im just a teen, can somebody explain to me why are pribumi are so racist to Chinese? Sometimes when i think it over and over, it seems like i could never get the point.
Do Chinese kill Indonesian?
Do we corrupt the government?
Are we the reason why Dutch ruled Indonesia for so long?
Are we the cause of the chaos happening in 1998?
Maybe we got involve to much in the government, until we lead them into the wrong path?
Do we take too much space of Indonesia?
Are there too many of us here?
Is it because of our culture that is worst than them(or the other way around)?
Do we pay tax? because i think my father does =)This dont really know what we did that is so wrong, basically what i believe is that we are just a normal businessman trying to make a living. What i also believe is there has been some case which Chinese are rape, slaughtered, looted by the pribumi, but I’m not really sure about Chinese people that kill, rape, loot, the pribumi, because me personally i think of myself as a visitors.

Chinese are hated simply for no other reason than they are by and large more successful than pribumi. Pribumi can’t stand to see someone in their own community doing better than they are but also can’t see that the reason this is the case is because chinese value work and education. This makes them successful not only in Indonesia but in other countries too. A positive way to channel this jealousy would be to get off their asses and work themselves and value education over jihad, sinetron etc. But I can’t see this happening in the foreseeable future.
Now is it pribumi who is doing this? Which particular pribumis? I would say it is a Javanese thing because i’ve never heard of Papuans etc attacking Chinese. Can anyone give any examples of groups doing this outside of Java. In 1998 I can’t think of one myself.

Yes and not only Javanese but locals too. Those outside Java in 1998 were brought in using container loads from Lampung.
