Kim, or Kimi, otherwise known as “KimDonesia” (Kim + Indonesia), a 17 year old Australian from Queensland, the Sunshine state, once lived in Lampung, southern Sumatra, for six months, accompanying her step-father who worked for a sugar company, Gula Putih Mataram (GPM).
While in Lampung she says she studied Islam, and was moved by the passionate devotion of the people there to the religion, and finally fell in love with it, particularly the sound of the call to prayer.
After moving back to Australia she converted to the faith, or reverted as she would have it. Here she explains, in rather good Indonesian, how she came to live in Indonesia in 2007:
In this video she explains her religious journey – from Wiccan moon worshipping, to nothing in particular, to Islam – she even has the pronunciation right, Islaaam, – and how living in Lampung and talking to the people there was one of the keys to her decision to throw her lot in with Allah.

I have tried to find the words ‘I leave behind me’ and ‘quran alone’ together but I couldn’t find so in the original arabic manuscripts using software Maktaba Asshamilah.
I have found the words TARAKTU FIKUM AMRAIN: KITABULLAHI WA SUNNATI. If you stick to the Book of Allah and my Way you would never go astray.
There are many people who say that they do Jihad but they do Jihad the way they think it suits them rather than doing Jihad the Way Rasoolullah saaws did. Hence, a true Muslim is the one who fulfils Allah’s commands and in the Way Rasoolullah saaws fulfilled them, rather than his own opinion. LAA IJTIHAADA FI MAURIDIN NAS.
So, if anyone can help in finding the words ‘I leave behind me’ and ‘quran alone’ together in any Arabic Islamic text, I would be grateful.

– We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an in order that ye may learn wisdom (Al-Qur’an 12: 2).
– This (tongue) is Arabic, pure and clear (16: 103).
– Had We sent this as a Qur’an (in a language) other than Arabic they could have said: Why are not its verses explained in etail? What! (a book) not in Arabic and (a messenger) an Arab? Say: It is a guide and a healing to those who believe … (Al-Qur’an 41: 44).
– We have made it a Qur’an in Arabic that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom)’ (Al-Qur’an 43: 3).Allah swt is a universal God, why in Arabic that non-Arabs understand. Those verses above are clearly corrupted by the Arabs.

In the Qur’an, it is specifically written, that no groups should exist or be created to represent Islam or an idea of the religion. There is one message only, and it is peace. Not destruction. Religions had coexisted for centuries, everybody has their own choice to make. And it is God who will decide your faith when it is the time for you to be judge.
Killing yourself in the name of Allah doesn’t give you automatically a place in heaven.

For Allah’s sake do not take verses about jihad out of it context, as it is apply during war time. Let me put this straight.. When the Dutch occupy Indonesia for 350 years, we muslim did iihad against them. Similarly what every muslim did, do, and will do in other side of the world.For me islam is perfect.

This had to happen, sooner or later. I know plenty of gullible Whiteys who marry Iranian men & women, convert & then are desperate to leave, but can’t.
Of course, it helps in the case of Iran that nowadays Iranians marrying foreign men\women no longer like to convert them to Islam, but are eager to quit Islam themselves, which is possible only after quitting Iran! 😉

Many of the rest ,from my personal observation, are women married to Muslim husbands who often wouldn’t want their marriages to break up.They wouldn’t mind being in a permanent relationship with a nice man, even if it means losing their nominal affiliation to Christianity.They however have a huge fight on their hands when their daughters begin permanent relationships with non Muslims, then their husbands show the usual double standards, encouraging sons to marry kafir women & convert them, but discouraging daughters from doing the same!
Of course, this isn’t always the case, but very often.
Add the munafiqs, who’ve secretly left but have invested too many years praying 5 times & being cut off from non Muslim friends, & only a handful of real, permanent converts remain.
Islam has so many repugnant aspects that its hard to stick to it too long!

I’ve always been inclined to think that anyone who actively, wholeheartedly converts to a new religion – particularly an ostensibly “foreign” one – is a nutjob (I don’t mean, cross-referencing another thread, sexual refugees to Indonesia who do an on-paper conversion just to get married – I mean people who leap in with utter conviction). Something is clearly very wrong in their lives; if the religion is “exotic” (is Islam exotic? I’m not sure, but Buddhism certainly is) they often end up being horribly patronising to the religion they have joined, and especially to its real adherents. I actually include converted atheists in this (even though I’m an atheist myself) – I don’t mean people who drift gently into it (the best way to go), but the people who actively “convert” and actively reject what was previously a strongly held belief of some other kind. My father did, and half a century later he’s still a bit messed up on religious issues… Which reminds me of a line from somewhere – there’s no atheist like a lapsed Catholic: not only do they not belive in God; they also hate Him and are terrified of Him too…

Nope, thats’ not what she said at all, however she did say that her dog’s death triggered a depression & forced her to think long & deep about the religion she had chosen.
She realised that she didn’t agree with the idea of God put forth in the Quran.
One night, I had a long conversation with my mother and told her my worries. I explained to her that my perception of God was not the God in the Qur’an who constantly talked about punishment of Hell for the disbelievers… Seriously, that’s what it’s like. All throughout, it’s basically “the disbelievers will go to Hell forever, and God is most Merciful, most Forgiving”. I realized that I was only a Muslim out of fear of Hellfire, and being brainwashed.
As an ex Muslim, I too have met many Muslims offline as well as interacted with Muslims online, who desperately try to prove that I left Islam for multiple other reasons rather than because of Islam’s flaws! 😉
They simply refuse to accept that it was studying Islam & the Quran which made me leave!
Personally I can well identify with Kim’s sentiments on reading the Quran, if that God Allah is so merciful, then why does He need to fill every page of His book with lurid descriptions of Hellfire & hatred towards unbelievers?

The Quran, on practically every page teaches believers to either despise unbelievers or to outright take up arms against all unbelievers!
Also, it specifically names unbelievers like Christians, Jews, idolators, etc-all these people exist in today’s world & it gets very difficult to co exist with these folks if you have a Holy Book which continually preaches hate & hellfire against all these!
Much of the non hate speech is simply garbled reproductions of OT & NT stories, there are no new interesting incidents, apart from Allah threatening Muhammad’s wives with Hellfire if they disobey or giving him permission to marry his daughter in law! 😉
Muslims are the “best of people” (3:110) while unbelievers are the “worst of creatures.”(98:6) 😉
And whoever disbelieves will burn eternally while believers enjoy in Allah’s brothel!

More and more Indonesian moslems are barracking with the Iranian shiite in their ambitious domination of sunnis lands. Everytime there is an abuse of our maid, we were told the same thing – it is the individual, islam has nothing to do with it. Who are they fooling?
