Apart from standard official statements; Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said
We are very shocked and dismayed by the incidents in Norway. We condemn the shooting and bombing that have killed civilians. We express deep condolences to the victims, their families, and the Norwegian government
The apparent fact that the killer was on an “anti Muslim crusade” has seemed to excite little interest within the country.

It appears nuances are beyond you. All immigrants deserve the right to be treated fairly and honestly its a pretty simple premise really. Stop being disingenious, you and I both know your point was if SA do not tolerate certain behaviours then it was fair enough that Australia adopt the same xenophobic, intolerant attitudes. I see Londons multicultural ethnic melting pot is busy enjoying the results of an open immigration policy, even as I write.
This is occurring in a country that knows no limit to the the grovelling concessions they make to other cultures. It is even considered “insensitive” to celebrate the native christian beliefs or fly the national flag, in many areas.

From what I saw in Hackney the largest contingent were gangs of young men taking the chance to break into stores and vent their resentment of the police. They wore “hoodie” jackets and were often masked.
A small minority were politically-inspired anarchists delighted to have an open fight with “the system.” They tended to wear helmets and T-shirts.
Some were middle-aged family people who were simply greedy and selfish enough to loot their local corner store, even though they shop there every day and know the owner.
And quite a few were just idiots adled by drugs, alcohol and boredom who were swept up in the excitement and pranced around inciting strangers to burn, fight or smash a window….
I was in LA for those riots and the stark contrast this time is that just like London’s street gangs these mobs have been racially mixed…
A man in his 60s emerged with five bottles of beer but as he passed a group of watching neighbours he copped an earful from a furious middle-aged mother of African descent.
“You know the woman who owns that store, how can you do this to her?” she screamed at him.
Of course, don’t feel too isolated Stevo there is plenty of people sharing your weird world. One local plonker has somehow managed to tie the the riots to the fact he is still pining for the days when you could legally beat other people children with sticks and belts.

You may also want to check your facts. The victims in Norway were not a bunch of children on summer camp. They were a bunch of socialist agitators. Given the horrors their absurd ideology has inflicted on the modern world, I feel no sympathy.
I think immigration is a good thing, up to a point. It helps a country grow and improve, for the benefit of all. America is a good example, with many of its greatest accomplishments coming from first or second generation immigrants.
The problem is when immigration dilutes the very thing the immigrants went there for in the first place. Its not black or white, but a question of degree.

Most people and cultures are essentially racist, in that they prefer their own culture/race/social group etc above others.
The idea that this very human trait is somehow wrong, is an intellectual experiment that has only recently emerged in a few countries. Even within those countries, it has gained little traction (if people are honest and speak openly).

The biggest country in the world is China. Its also one of the oldest developed countries with a long written history. They have been thinking about stuff a very long time.
How do you think they view such things & do Chinese ideas on human rights appeal to you?
Next biggest is India. Also an ancient and advanced culture. They have the caste system, a real beacon of human rights, do you agree?

I have opted for the lazy way out, and can see that other views are valid, even when I do not share them. Some of what goes on in the world appalls me. The best any of us can do is protect our own society, while tolerating those whose do things differently.

And your reasoning about the victim’s age is bizarre. The Utoya youth (!) camp was attended by approx. 600 teenagers. It’s quite normal a reasonable amount of adults organize and manage such camps. Anders Breivik targeted this youth (!) camp to execute his heinous crime. Only sicko’s would want to play around with ages of randomly killed innocents to make some points

I do note, it has not stopped some from continuing the usual rants against immigrants although even the most nonsensical has had to fit in a disclaimer oh my goodness, there is some white trash involved at the bottom of the rant. I did despite everything get a chuckle at the suggestion by one somewhat disturbed local commentator that the only way to fix the problem was to shoot people down in the street and bring in Russian Hind Attack Helicopters…
Anyway, from my understanding from our local fringe friends. The solution is pretty simple. Shoot children down in parks, shoot people down in the streets, use attack helicopters for crowd control, ban Muslims and expel all immigrants at the first sign of not skulling a six pack on Friday night and vomiting down the pub, whilst screaming allegiance to the Monarchy.
Gee, and people wonder why rational “conservatives” wash their hands of the label nowadays.
