Apart from standard official statements; Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said
We are very shocked and dismayed by the incidents in Norway. We condemn the shooting and bombing that have killed civilians. We express deep condolences to the victims, their families, and the Norwegian government
The apparent fact that the killer was on an “anti Muslim crusade” has seemed to excite little interest within the country.

Every time you (& a few other regulars) are confronted with a different point of view, you start with the ignorant racist , xenophobic, caricature.
Its shows how divorced from reality you guys really are. This is INDONESIA MATTERS. Hardly a hotbed of white nationalists. Many of the folk here are in intimate relationships with Indonesians and integrated with Indonesian life. They are also immigrants themselves and well aware of that.
Still others are not as “white” as you might imagine.

Yep…. When ever I see someone treated differently for reasons of skin colour.
That includes preferential treatment, not just negative things. There is allot of this double standard here on IM, so I end up mentioning it frequently. In real life its hardly a burning issue for me.

Could it be the good folk of Indonesia may be a bit more concerned about the bigger wrongs being visited on Muslim folk around the world, by the liberal west?
Maybe they share some of the alternative views I suggested and do not see this shooting as being worse than thousands of dead Muslim kids? (crazy dam Muslims)
I note that the resident self righteous know-alls have avoided speculation on this point.

– Celebs at home and abroad.

You are probably wrong about the majority of conservatives supporting the war on terror. I doubt many reasonable people support the war any longer, regardless of political leanings.
Remember that the conservatives are not in power, in the US, yet the war goes on and has expanded. It not about the will of the people.
The US needs to bring its people home and sort out its own internal problems. The armed services have done all they can and no more should be asked of them at this point.

I always thought that McCain was the best of the bunch, a man with a bit of humanity combined with leadership and with a personal history that would allow him to put the more out there “hawks on couches” back into their place. Of course, he was unelectable due to his age and the very real scary thought of who would be President should he fall. Despite the noise of the shrills, the vast majority of the US electorate are relatively rational.

Easily enough done; this is because of the fact that more and more women are leaving their rightful place in the family home and going out to work, leaving their kids with nothing better to do than knifecriming their friends and neighbours.
The only logical solution is for these Feminazis to have their wings clipped, a certain reduction in their rights to divorce (for the sake of society, of course – to keep families together), and there’s no need for them to have jobs – they already have one at home! And hell, if they don’t have a job, there’s no need for them to drive either. And come to think of it, they should probably cover up their hair and preferably faces at all times, again, to ensure that the family unit remains intact and there is no temptation for us blokes.
Or am I getting my misogynist groups mixed up? It’s an easy mistake to make…

A TEENAGE motorist was told to remove an England flag from his car by a police officer because it could be offensive to immigrants.
Ben Smith, 18, was driving back home to Ingram Road in Melksham on Thursday evening after filling up with petrol, when the officer stopped him on a routine patrol.He checked the tax disc and tyres on his Vauxhall Corsa but when he noticed the flag of St George on the parcel shelf he told Mr Smith to take it down.
Mr Smith, who works for G Plan Upholsterers on Hampton Park West, said: “He saw the flag and said it was racist towards immigrants and if I refused to take it down I would get a £30 fine.
“I laughed because I thought he was joking, but then I realised he was serious so I had to take it down straight away. I thought it was silly – it’s my country and I want to show my support for my country.”
Mr Smith had recently installed new speakers in the parcel shelf of his car and wanted to cover them up so they did not get stolen.
He used the flag and laid it out flat on the shelf so it was not obscuring his view out of the rear window.
No doubt about it, you would have to be crazy to think tolerant European values are under threat.
But Sharia is not just making inroads in Pakistan but actually creeping in the West – particularly in Europe.
One area especially touched by this phenomenon is the judicial system in Europe. Two recent cases in Italy and France are particularly troublesome. First, in Italy, three members of a Brescia-based Maghrebi family (father, mother and eldest son) were accused of beating up and sequestering their daughter/sister Fatima because she wanted to live a “Western” life.
In the first trial, the three were sentenced for sequestration and bad treatment. The court acknowledged that the teenager was “brutally beaten up” for having “dated” a non-Muslim and in general for “living a life not conforming with the culture” of her family. But on appeal, the family was acquitted because the court deemed that the young woman was beaten up for “her own good.”
