Agnes Monica & Allah PeduliAgnes Monica annoys Malaysians for unusual reasons, with her new hit song Allah Peduli.

The province of Selangor in Malaysia has banned pop singer Agnes Monica’s latest tune “Allah Peduli” (God Cares) because of its use of the term “Allah” to refer to the Christian God, possibly including Jesus Christ/Jesus of Nazareth/the prophet Isa.

Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa, the head of the Religious Court in Selangor, says the song must not be played or sung anywhere in the province. Non-Muslims who say “Allah” to refer to their god(s) are subject to a 1,000 ringgit (about $300) penalty, he says. antara

Agnes Monica
Our Agnes

There has been a long-running dispute in Malaysia as to whether non-Muslims, particularly Christians, are permitted to say “Allah” for “God”. The dispute began when authorities objected to the Catholic daily the Herald using the word, with this case currently going through the courts.

The word ‘Allah’ in arabic means God. right!
The word ‘Tuhan’ in bahasa means God. right!
The word ‘Diyos’ in Tagalog means God too!
It’s just a matter of locaL preferrence of which dialect or language were speaking
    to…to call God.

Arabic language was already exist even before the time of Jesus Christ & Mohammad.
The only difference that I see here was the ‘Bible’ was translated & practice into almost all languages for better understanding. That’s why there is a local translation of the word God everywhere. I think if the Koran was done the same way…there’s an equivalent local translation of the word ‘God’ too.

In my country, there is a separation of power between Religion & Goverment.
I believe, Malaysia don’t have the right to own the word ‘Allah’ .
but they have the prerogative to implement anything within their country.
    Beyond that…it’s already absurd.

We should be glad that we have life after death. I believe Christians and Muslims
have travelled on different paths…One guided by Jesus Christ and the other was
    guided by Mohammad…into One final destination…to meet…GOD!
    God is good…God is great!

hURmm….I think there is no such law says that Christian cannot sing “Allah” songs…For me…Allah is God…Tuhan…Yesus…or Bapa…Christian also called God as Allah because Allah is God. Agnes will not and cannot be punish or be blamed for sing this song…Because Allah in Christian is also God…If it is really wrong if we call God as Allah…then explain why…
    God bless Agnes Monica forever!!!!

  3. Irwan Darmawan says:

Who can advise Allah? Who can claim Allah? Let Allah is Allah. Allah peduli. Allah cares. It is the life experiences of belivers. What is wrong with Christian if they use Allah to call God. In Indonesia language, God is translated Allah. Christians belive in Allah.

Why muslim do not allow others call Allah? Allah belongs to muslim. Allah cares humankind who believe in him. According to our faith, Allah is creator of every creation. Does Allah create muslim only. Muslim is only name for those belong to islam religion.

Nothing wrong with Monica if she called God as Allah.

Allah is only the name given by men.

  4. SL says:

Haha, this argument is getting more interesting. It is not logical that muslims and christians should ever get into this kind of arguments. It’s simply just because both religion believe there is only one God or Allah. So logically speaking, by having this kind of Allah and God and Tuhan, Muslim God and Christian God argument means there are 2 Gods out there? Where is your faith??!!

  5. Oigal says:

The Creator is infinite and is not define by time or space like we are. Thus, He was not created nor died. There is none like unto Him.

I answered all your questions. Thank you.

Not even close..I make the same statement when someone dares question the existance of the big invisible fairy at the bottom of my garden.

  6. Muhammad El Malizi says:

    @oigal

But your big invisible fairy at the bottom of your garden is defined by time and space because it is within space-time theorem due to the position of your garden which is within this universe. Know physics.

  7. Oigal says:

Ah yes..My Malaysian Arab Friend (What would your forebears be saying now have spurned the traditonal names of your country)..

Never mind, you underestimate our fairy..(we call him AM by the way)…He/she is defined by nothing that he chooses not to be..all seeing..omi dude.

    Know physics

Oh please, the above is in jest. Believe in what you will, its comforting to you and amusing to others but of no issue unless either view is forced upon another. However, Physics is a science and like all sciences relies upon constant, repeatable testing and hard facts to support a postion, not blind faith or mystical nonsensical circular statements in support of the impossible, improbable and the implausible.

As a science,Physics continues to push the Deities (pick one of your choosing) further into the ever shrinking dark places of human understanding (or more correctly non understanding) and with every advance in physics (and other sciences) the unexplainable becomes explainable and the need to believe retreats a little more (and look what happened to TInkerbell) and the believers try justify ever small dark crannies as proof of our need to believe.

    Seksi Mr. Oigals Yth.,

I am glad you are embracing the defense of science. It is healthier than fantasizing about Pashtuns and their pastimes.

More importantly, it is important the world knows Indonesia’s role in human-alien interraction, and why the U.F.O.s are landing here. It is because Java is the most halus and advanced civilization.

  10. Oigal says:

Ah Assmad, How….cough..nice to see you back, although nicer to see your back..but I digress..Pashtuns?? twas that not Timdog?..I was just hovering around the edges of that discussion..

Mike..Ouch that was grim…are you refering to the genetic dental challenges that seem to afflict so many from that region? You know the ones that could eat an apple thru a tennis racket?

  11. balin says:

maybe Malaysian government don’t want to make young moslem there confused with the song, because in christian they got so many god names there, trinity stuff, 1 2 3 names.. but in moslem only 1 and 1 only. So if the song use the name which can be foundin moslem, they would be confused.
but here moslem in indonesia already know the difference, so there would be no problem wheter they use ilahi Eli elohim ilahim yahweh yehovah inri and soon

  12. mercy says:

We never hear any Christians from a non Muslim majority country call their god “Allah”.. why? because in those places they have no agenda to make their christian messages more palatable to the muslim masses.

    andrey,

i use that Allah words in church. here in indonesia
is there any agenda for that?

  13. REAL[b]IST says:

Let Allah belong to the Muslim and God to the Christian-Catholic respectively. We should ban the word Allah in churches and levy a heavy fine as penalty; and charge the muslim every time they use the word God(e.g. oh my God). Fair enough. make sense right?? I would love to see which side amounts the highest levies to realize this rule is ridiculous.

  14. mercy says:

and i’m the first one to stand in
“this opinion is really ridiculous n absurd”

why we should ban a language?
is language belong to any religion?
    ..silly..silly..

  15. Costa TL says:

No metter…. let them say whatever… God/Allah/Deus/Maromak/Deo/…. and so many words else…. it wil not and cannot make any change of any attitude, atribute and existenace of the divine Creator that we call in diferent luanguages…

“Let me claim God/Allah is mine…. but I’m not sure that God/Allah will claim I am the only one who belong to HIM”… just think about it….
