Olympics Medals Count

Aug 25th, 2008, in Asides, by

The Olympics have apparently been going on, and just finished. Indonesia finished 43rd in the medal standings.

  • Badminton, 1 gold (men’s doubles – Markis Kido, Hendra Setiawan)
  • Badminton, 1 silver (mixed doubles – Nova Widianto, Liliyana)
  • Badminton, 1 bronze, (women’s – Maria Kristin Yulianti.)
  • Weightlifting, 2 bronze (Eko Yuli Irawan & Triyatno).

Other Asean –

  • Thailand, 32nd, 2 gold, 2 silver
  • Malaysia, 74th, 1 bronze silver.
  • Singapore, 76th, 1 silver.
  • Vietnam, 79th, 1 silver.
  • Philippines, nowhere/nothing.

So not a bad result in comparison, given the situation of sport in these countries.

    Agreed- Mr Statue

education, nutrition, hygiene and socialisation are all very important programs to lift the often passive-aggressive, resistant and stubborn rakyat out of poverty.

Remember when they did not want to change to use Natural Gas instead of kerosene- despite it being all positive, few cons?

Indeed we love our children- but they are often stupid and a pain- and you will pull your hair at their mindless irrationality.
Yet you persevere as you have their best interests at heart, though they may not yet realise or appreciate it.

    Ditto our Rakyat.
