Bali bomber Amrozi finds love in prison, and marries today, while his execution seems to be nearing.

The final decision to go ahead with the execution rests with the minister for Law.

Mahendradatta of the TPM had requested clarification from the Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) on whether death by firing squad was a legitimate method of capital punishment within Islam. detik
After a person has been shot they don’t die for 5 minutes, so it’s torture, but if firing squads are deemed within the bounds of Islamic law [by the MUI], well then that’s it.

If they’re brave enough just do it now! It’s strange, there are over 90 death penalty cases where the legal processes are complete but the executions haven’t been carried out. The Attorney General’s office should respect our client’s efforts to have their cases reviewed.
Update. Amrozi wasn’t allowed to have the marriage go ahead in the prison, so the ceremony took place in Lamongan, his home village, and he was represented by his younger brother Ali Fauzi. kompas

simple answer is NONE!None? Try all. Each and every one of them lost office in their countries. Bush a little different but he would have lost by the most if he had to go to the people again. Iraq has been a frustrating misadventure and not at all supported by the people in the west. The idea was right but the execution was flawed from the outset. So hands up Indonesians who supported the execution of the Bali Bombers? Who thinks what they did was totally wrong? Purba is the only non bule who has spoken up about this issue. The silence from the rest is deafening.

So far I haven’t seen any one demanding death sentences for Bush, Sharon, Howard, Blair or others involved in the brutality committed against people of Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and now Border line of Pakistan.
I am sure I have made my point clear to you that the problem is not you and I, it is at the top level where they have selling weapons as their mission, killing as their object, and Hypocrisy as their nature.
Mr Semper you are dead right, we don’t have many Muslim countries left on earth. They all follow their own desires, and this is why you see some disturbing seen across the globe.
But nevertheless same problems we have in the west as well.

But let me draw your attention to higher fact which is: that the creator of this world owns everything, including all the countries, including all the buildings, animals, trees etc. Even all the people. Nad, military targets and other military personnel don’t count. At a time of war people will be killed. The west regret the killing of any innocent civilians and they are not the prime target. That is where the Bali Bombers were different. They chose ‘soft’ targets (i’m using their own words here) in a setting which was not a theatre of war. Nobody who was enjoying a jungle juice or icy cold bintang saw anything coming. I think any Iraqi in a war zone can. And by the way are you including all those killed by Al Qaeda in Iraq as your statistics. You know most of the victims (9/11) excepted of terrorists are actually muslims. Doesn’t that worry you? From my point of view, you have missed the point. Islamic hegemony from those region is to make Pax-Islamiah. And ruled by one Caliph. With the wealth of petro dollar, stimulate a question of who will be the ruler. Let alone a clash between sub-sects as Shi’ite, Sunni, Baha’i, Wahhabi, Sufi, Maliki etc. Now when a sect become majority and rule a contry as Iran, Iraq, KSA, etc the chess-play becomes aggregate.

Here here Humphrey, as an Indonesian muslim i’m tired of people like these embarrassing us and making the world look at us as uneducated morons. Some of us, and i’m afraid to say the minority, actually want to learn, work hard and avoid religious conflict. So we can get on with our lives and look the rest of the world in the eye with a sense of pride.

I live in a western country and unfortunately I have been experiencing this double standard of the west for almost 20 years.
Well then you don’t really understand the situation at all. I suggest you pack your bags and move to Palestine. Then you can start your ranting here.

Actually Nad, it’s funny you say this as I live in the west just like you and in my country it is illegal to buy porn movies unless I subscribe by mail order from Canberra. On the other hand while I was in Jakarta (Capital city of the world’s largest muslim country) I was harrassed daily on the way home from work to buy porn on the street. In full view of muslim women and children. I used to give them a piece of my mind if I was in a bad mood otherwise I would just make a wise comment in Bahasa to them.
What i’m trying to say is if you really think your mission is in the west and you are staying there under sufferance, surely you can see there are plenty of the same problems amongst your own kind.
