It will make a nice song, Patrick. Let the title be “Tokyo – Indo – Cairo”, which reminds me of the song “New York – Rio – Tokyo” by Trio Rio, though completely tells different story.

We live in a fascinating time, when rebellions in North Africa and the Middle East may well be the beginning of a fourth demokratiWave in the world. After the third wave, which swept across southern Europe, Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe between 1974 and 1990, the time may be ripe for a new democratic thrust.

One question is whether Chinese citizens have reason to protest, another if they want to see the regime fall. But developments in the Middle East has taught the Chinese government to take all the cries for a Chinese jasmine revolution very seriously. Therefore, it has, instead of lying low and rely on the legitimacy it has built up over the past three decades, massive demonstrations of strength in places where it called for protests.

Approximately 55 rockets and mortar shells have been launched at Israel during the last three months, totaling more than 250 since the end of Operation Cast Lead and more than 750 in 2009, the IDF said in a statement.
what the hell do you do if the enemy creeps into a children’s wagon after
    a rocket attack.
Hamas has used the same methodology over the years.
To crawl to shelter behind civilians after their raids into Israel.
Now Hamas can not expect any outside help except Iran and perhaps Syria.

    Syrian protests ended in bloodshed

Heavy clashes occurred between demonstrators and security forces in the town of Dara in southern Syria.

According to various sources people were killed and hundreds injured. Thousands of people attended a peaceful protest for political rights and stop corruption, when security forces opened fire on the crowd. Residents said that security forces were flown to the scene by helicopter.
Hundreds of demonstrators were injured, and security men abducted people from the hospital to some secret column, said an eyewitness.
Demonstrations were organized also in the capital Damascus and in other cities. Demonstrations are banned in Syria.

  17. Hans says:

What is democracy. democracy that the world could stand on. Human equality and rights are fundamental, it is the majority that decides in a democracy. But it is important to remember that the minority also has rights. The majority should never oppress the minority, and each person has one vote. Nobody has a right to know how another person has voted, to express their thoughts and feelings in speech and writing. Being able to publish a newspaper without any authority in advance of reviewing the content, Rule of law means that all people should be equal before the law. A person shall be presumed innocent until he or she is convicted and it is clear what is legal and illegal. A person who commits a crime should be able to foresee the consequences. The right to join or form a union is essential in a democracy. as churches and trade unions.

Does Indonesia have Democracy today! The rule of law is not equal for all and the politicians are corrupt, news media are actually really good and can usually be debated freely. but can we say that all public power emanates from the people. and what abt Human equality? no I do not think ther is equality

  18. Hans says:

Democracy, a new political issues, parties and politicians, a politician today receive a mandate for political opinions if he – she does have the capitals voters in his hand.
Can a political party win an election without winning voters in the example Jakarta, London, Tokyo. Rural and small urban views becomes uninteresting. Win elections in three major cities on Java, then you have won throughout the hole country. it is majority, but is it fair that we come to this. problem is the same here in Sweden, you win Stockholm, then you win a majority in the country.

In actual fact even the IDF has acknowledged that 2010 has been the quietest year for rocket attacks since 2002. See:
    http://idfspokesperson.com/2010/10/07/2010-statistics-rocket-and-mortar-fire-from-the-gaza-strip-as-of-october-7th-7-oct-2010/

And Hans, since you seem to be so concerned about the welfare of children, you might be interested in the following statistic: since 29/9/2000 1,452 Palestinian children have been killed as compared to 124 Israeli children (see the website “ifamericansknew”). This figure does probably not yet include the 318 Palestinian children that, according to the Israeli human rights organisation B’Tselem, were killed during the last Israeli onslaught on Gaza Dec.27 2008 – Jan.18 2009.

Yes it is terrible that these offenders may continue to hide behind mom and other people’s babies

What do you do, what are you doing, where terror hides in the stroller

  22. Oigal says:

Seems simple to me. Declare the whole disputed region under UN Mandate and move the UN HQ’s away from the life of idle luxury in the USA there with UN provided security.

It’s obvious that Israel and the various Arab factions will never be able to overcome their ancient tribal hatreds and the rest of the world is just plain tired of whole morass of uncivilized behaviour.

Do not think that will stop the terror, it stop Israel army but not the terror, then it´s still the children who whill pay.
And both sides become terrorists? What good is this.
Then I get to pay their war, with my paid tax! ?? that is not good ??

if we just kind of takes away the region and pretend it never existed, sense of loss will be minimal, since all are related to everyone them self in the family

  25. Arie Brand says:

Hans if you, in order to hit one particular militant who happens to have his abode in a certain apartment building, bomb the whole building causing numerous casualties (as has happened), you can of course claim that the whole trouble was caused because the man was ‘hiding among civilians’ – but it would take a double-dyed cretin to believe you. Israeli claims have been largely of this nature. It took you to suggest that the militants hide in nurseries. Not even that sweet talking female major of the IDF’s publicity department ever thought that she could go as far as that.

“It’s obvious that Israel and the various Arab factions will never be able to overcome their ancient tribal hatreds”

Oigal, it is not a matter of “ancient tribal hatreds”. The small Jewish group that was living in Jerusalem for centuries before the Zionist invasion started had remained undisturbed among its Moslem neighbours. To me the whole affair is as plain as the nose on your face. Basic injustices have been committed and are still being committed today.

The UN partition of the country in 1947 granted 55% of the remaining Mandate territory to the Jews, though there were at that time only about 600,000 of them, roughly one third of the total population. In the ensuing war three quarters of a million Palestinians were driven out and robbed of their lands and houses. The Israelis increased their territory from 55% to 78% of the land. The ‘international community’ , and the Palestinians, have acquiesced in that even though retaining land acquired by war is against international law.

Not satisfied with that they have since 1967 encroached further and further on the remaining Palestinian territory through settlements that have been declared to be illegal by the International Court of Justice.

Do I have to add that the people they have driven out have ever since been living in appalling circumstances. Harassed in their every movement by check points where young Israeli soldiers can give way to their sadistic impulses without ever being called to account (read the revelations of the former Israeli sergeant Furer about this). Being targeted by Israeli religious crazies in the settlement movement. Excluded from the main roads on the West Bank that can only be used by Israelis. Finding their wells poisoned, their olive trees uprooted and often being thrown with stones and harassed in other ways when they try to go to their land. This has all been extensively documented by human rights groups.

One doesn’t need to refer to “ancient tribal hatreds” to explain the antagonism and the conflict this has caused.

In 1967 there was a turning point. The Israelis had the choice to refrain from settling on the West Bank as was advised by their elder statesman Ben Gurion. They couldn’t resist a further land grab, however, encouraged in this by their one eyed general, Moshe Dayan, who was then, as the Israeli historian Avi Shlaim put it, king in the land of the blind.

The Palestinians however want their remaining 22 % of the land for which the Israelis would have to withdraw to the Green Line. The so-called Arab Peace plan that has been on the table for nine years now is based on this. The likudists don’t want peace however. They want land.

This is a strange thing, which I probably will never understand fully. often thought if they had Halland, the landscape where I now live, in Sweden, or if they got half Java. Strange behavior of taking a country and give to someone else. it was actually the legacy of Saladin that everyone should live in peace in Jerusalem. **that then Muslims should not be in Jerusalem where God’s tomb is located**, is what it is!. and it´s not Jews beliving, so it´s strange,

  29. Hans says:

why Israel could prosper to become a developed nation with high technological advancement

Yes it is the first thing I think of when I visit Israel and Israel’s neighbors. Israel is totally superior, they have quality of life they have disco, they have this * crap * rolls* to eat. life is good there, if you do not go to tourist places like Bethlehem and up the hill in Jerusalem, where Arabs live, ther it is not good and the feeling of a violent fast dead is a feel in the air.

The Israelis have a very different story about how it was to take over this country. who it was who was in high terrain, on the way up to Jerusalem and how they lay there and fired wildly down on the unarmed settlers, this is what the Israelis themselves are saying.

but to give away a country, it must be a mistake

I was the first time in Israel in 1975, when it was a nice and pleasant land. when I came back about ten years later this country completely changed, do not know how to explain, maybe racist is a good expression. Haifa in northern Israel were not so changed. what happened and why, have I never thought much of, war, terrorism, children growing up without his father killed in war, everything tear out a people, who think of revenge. Recently, most have become more normal in the most thing.

kibbutz, I guess they’re there, good thing that with free labor. Jaffa oranges are boycotted, called and complained about this, I had to eat sour f*cking Spanish oranges at Christmas.

    wherever you are: love
