Poll: SBY-Boediono, Mega-Bowo, JK-Win

May 28th, 2009, in News, by

PollDoubts raised over president Yudhoyono’s ability to win re-election,.. and an IM voter poll.

While the pairing of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono (SBY-Boediono or SBY Berboedi) of Partai Demokrat is considered a strong favourite against rivals Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto (JK-Win) and Megawati Soekarnoputri-Prabowo Subianto (Megabowo or Megapro) some within Demokrat’s main coalition partner the Justice Party/Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) are having doubts over SBY’s re-electability.

Poll

Party Deputy Secretary, the ever talkative Zulkieflimansyah, says:

If you look at recent surveys the three pairs are close together, the difference between first and third is only 10%.

Zulkieflimansyah did not mention what surveys he was referring to but likely it was internal PKS polling.

Nevertheless the SBY-Boediono ticket remained the most popular, and this he said was the primary reason that the PKS had chosen to join in coalition with Partai Demokrat, because SBY had the best chance of winning. kompas

LSI’s latest poll shows SBY-Boedionon leading with 70%, far ahead of Mega (18%) and JK (7%). Of course, now Mega’s team accuses LSI of not being neutral and impartial as they are payed by SBY’s consultants FOX. Very predictable. But doesn’t change the fact that LSI is professional and usually delivers fairly accurate data.

You can find the poll data here:

  2. Odinius says:

I can believe that. Mega is simply not a credible alternative, given her failures as president and her sordid choice of partner. JK simply lacks charisma.

  3. Norm Chumpsky says:

If SBY-Boediono wins, PKS get four key ministries: Agriculture (again), Social Affairs, Educations (!!!) and Menkominfo (gulp!).

If you were foreign-funded, conservative Islamist movement seeking to infiltrate the social institutions of a predominantly moderate (ideologically) agricultural society by moving from the cities to the countryside, which ministries would you want.

I would certainly choose the four above.

Youth and Sports? Housing? There were okay, but not really funded enough to advance these primary objectives.

So, if SBY is as blind to this as he appears to be, unfortunately I would rather have Mega-Prabowo (I know, I cringe at the thought), because JK is also too easliy manipulated by the musang yg berbulu domba (namanya PKS).

Disclaimer: This is just a rant. No need to get too worked up over it. But then again, what if I am on to something?

Fuel usage should be taxed or sold at market prices and not subsidised as those who can afford a vehicle are considered well off. Money saved from this should be channeled into public transportation. Besides, subsidies encourages smuggling and the tax payers end up losers.

You are right but any politician who has the courage to abolish the subsidies runs a high risk of being lynched.

  5. sputjam says:

If politicians wants to remain popular and stay in power for a long time, while playing by the rules of democracy, then look no further than Thaksin of thailand.
Once he became PM, he gave the rural masses micro-credit facilites, free medical etc. he remains the most popular politician in thailand today, even though he used the 2/3 parliamentary majority he garnered, for his own personal interest.
But still, the rural people love this guy, despite the facts. He could go on to be the PM if the thai king wasn’t so pissed off with what he did.
    And Thaksin abolished fuel subsidies.

Norm Chumpsky, I really like your nickname….

If SBY-Boediono wins, PKS get four key ministries: Agriculture (again), Social Affairs, Educations (!!!) and Menkominfo (gulp!).

If I’m not wrong they tried to get 8 ministries and 2 or 4 ambassadorships, reportedly SBY just gave them those 4 ministries and no ambassadorships, just rumour though. The Religion ministry though I don’t think they even bothered trying for, they seem resigned to that being an NU fiefdom.

Some among those who are really anti-PKS are pretty ‘paranoid’ – maybe not the right word – about them getting Education though.

If you were foreign-funded, conservative Islamist movement seeking to infiltrate the social institutions of a predominantly moderate (ideologically) agricultural society by moving from the cities to the countryside, which ministries would you want.

It’s more Gramsci than Chomsky isn’t it. šŸ™‚

Anyone ever hear of a thing called ‘salami tactics?’

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salami_tactics

Not saying the PKS is actually doing this, but it’s just not possible to be sure they are not. Pretty much everything they’ve done since the 2002 name change indicates they are dedicated to democratic process. But they are also very shady about their long-term goals and position on Pancasila.

Plus Patung…. I like Norm Chumsky’s nick too….. ! and also I’m pretty paranoid about PKS…… and even more so now I know they are getting Education! Not to mention Social Affairs and MEnkominfo????!!!!! arrrggh!

?????? and JK is better because why?

  11. Cukurungan says:

and JK is better because why

because JK dare to say no to MR BULE because by doing nothing just say NO to MR Bule everything will be better

  12. primo says:

    God! cukurungan…

So saying “NO to MR Bule” will make everything better?

You’re even worse than MegaPro! (stupidity)

    God! cukurungan…

So saying ā€œNO to MR Buleā€ will make everything better?

You’re even worse than MegaPro! (stupidity)

What you have to prove it otherwise, if you want to know how deep contribution MR Bule
with help Bpk Boediono to make a poor Indonesian getting more poorer see below:

JK only says no to foreigners if it doesn’t suit his business interests. If something is in for him he will happily say YES!!

Do you mind if I ask you, where do you get those data from? (reference please..) because you are talking about figures in here, it would have been nicer if you can provide a supporting information about this.

    Agree with Rambutan…

In theory JK might say “NO” but as we can see from his previous words, it sometimes misleading.I reckon the more promise “capres” gave to public, usually the lower probability they will fulfill the promises.

I’m don’t agree that SBY has done a very terrible job for the government the fact that Indonesian government is very complex, most of political people came from “Orba” (the root of corruption, nepotism, and collusion), even tough the top position has a good governance but the people in all levels (vertically e.g governor, council) needs to be inspected.

The only reason why “capres” are very eager to win is because they thought they can change Indonesia with their Ideology but to fix all this problem cooperation is needed.

MegaPro is simply uneducated. This will lead to uneducated nation, of course we don’t want that because it will make us even weaker compared to the other countries and we will definitely stayed as a third world country. Also this combination will be the same as Suharto regime, I believe most of people are happy during this regime but not because they are happy, it is because they dont know! On the other hand, they have capital which can be good or bad.

JK-Wiranto is crazy about power, JK is basically Golkar with a new skin but the same inside.we can see example from other countries with power crazy leader, they will lead the country into destruction.

SBY-Boediono the most anticipated from this “capres” is PKS taking 4 key ministries which can be a potential threat. Neoliberalism can be good or bad, it depends on person point of view so I’m not going to talk more about that.

So all the candidates has good and bad… but we have to reflect on which “capres” who have the capability to lead Indonesia to go FORWARD not BACKWARD.

    Cheers,

    primo

Many Indonesians are still suffering from an inferiority complex.

because JK dare to say no to MR BULE because by doing nothing just say NO to MR Bule everything will be better
Everything will be better by doing nothing just say no to Mr. Bule? Say no to what? To marry Indonesian women? Say no to invest in Indonesia? Say no to help victims of natural disaster (like Tsunami in Aceh)? Say no to democracy (because democracy is a product of Mr. Bule)? And then just sitting beyond a leaky roof waiting until the rain stops? Meanwhile praying? And hoping, that the roof will repair itself? šŸ™‚ Oh. my God ……

  17. Oigal says:

JK Says no to Mr Bule.. šŸ™‚ but yes to Mr Arab who wants a rent-a-wife. At least the man is flexible and lets be honest, amusing to watch. Wiranto on the other hand..perhaps a postion at the Hague but as leader of Indonesia..T

  20. Achmad Sudarsono says:

    Oigal,

Honestly, after 2 years in talking to you, here’s the thing. I think you chicken out of difficult debates. You either avoid the subject or just repeat yourself, over and over. At least I’m not serious most of the time.

  21. Oigal says:

    Crikey!!

repeat myself ..well its coz trout have small ears and low retention levels, I can hardly be held to blame your dam’s breeding preferences…now lie still whilst I gut you yet again..

And don’t use words you don’t understand ..like honestly..debates..serious ..etc

and be fair.,,let what happened whislt I have been busy in the real world and not bringing the oxygen world to you ..it was very quiet here.

In this election, I planned to vote for SBY, my motive simply to prevent human rights abuser to be Wapres of Indonesia. It would be embarrassing for Indonesian–as a nation–to have them lead us–or at least co-leading us. It’s even embarrassing already to see them run for wapres, how could it possible? Why there’s no law that could be enforced to prevent human rights abuser to run for capres/wapres?

Reading the debates here make me think again. Alas, voting for SBY will give PKS a chance to get more influence. But voting JK and Mega will also give greed and stupidity to have more influence.

But at least, by voting for SBY I could help him winning the election in 1 round. Saving a lot of money, even, save a lot of money from being used recklessly and unsatisfactorily by KPU. Not good enough reason, but do I need reason to justify my choice? Does Indonesian do?

I should apologise but hard to take this thread seriously…The record of these guys (and that other one) reduces this whole thing to a WTF laugher (with due apologies to those that suffered) moment

  29. Achmad Sudarsono says:

    Pak Oigal,

Really ? You’re not just blowing me raspberrys ? The liver’s still gotta convert the alcohol into acetaldehyde, putting all the other functions on hold. Raspberry’s, if fresh, are good for you, but do they have a special ingredient that helps with processing alcohol ? Was joking about drinking at 3 pm, but after 2-3, I try to match each drink with water, upping the H20 as the night continues.

At 19, I’m a virgin voter myself. And I’m voting SBY cos can’t stand someone like Wiranto or Prabowo ruling this country when they won’t even dare to clarify their roles in Timor and in Jakarta in May 1998.

But ideally I hope to pull PDI into the coalition govt. PKS deserves the boot. I can’t accept a Islam Indonesia.

    Just my 2 cents.
