They were a bad lot, and deserve no sympathy. If they showed signs of repentance in their twilgiht years, I’d be happy to let it go, sudahlah. -

Which is probably the point Ross, are you suggesting the vast majority of workers (more correctly peasants I guess) in Indonesia aren’t enslaved now?
If you a peasant getting the stuffing kick out of you day after day (read the recent article on tobacco farmers in the Globe). Is it really any wonder people turn to communism or the PKS as an alternative. Certainly for millions of poor, Democracy (?) aint improved their life much. Although not sure if you would Indonesia a democracy though, perhaps a mutant and uglier version of the railway barons of the early west.
What is interesting is it appears that the upper middle class think this exploitation of the people can go on for ever without repercussions, yet Indonesian history proves this ain’t so.

Actually, it happened the wrong way round….. i wasn’t looking for something to write into the insult fest… it just so happened that phrase jumped out at me from an email my son sent me right when I felt like hurling an insult type phrase. I figured it’s an insult, so it can go in here. The result might have been that someone would have a go at me for it…. you know, something along the lines of
“Can’t even think up you’re own insult, what!”
“Dasar cutter paster!” and the like…..
i was at hoping for an accusation of plagiarism at the very least…. seems I don’t inspire insults…. I think I’m glad now though, was in a feisty mood at the time… wanted to have a go at one of my customers for being an armchair revolutionary, neo colonialist purple person, and couldn’t (seeing as he’s my customer…) then as I was making Mr. Bean type under my breath complainy noises, that phrase was there; just begging to be copy pasted…… and the rest is history. -
